Romantic Proposal at Jordan Pines Campground
Planning a surprise proposal can be overwhelming with all the elements that have to fall in place. Many of my proposal clients come from out of state and need all the assistance they can get when planning a surprise proposal and I am always thrilled ton help them create a fun experience. You can read here about many beautiful locations in Utah perfect for proposal, but if you're coming specifically to Park City or Salt Lake City to propose- this blog is for you.
Salt Lake City offers great and photogenic proposal locations not far from the city itself. One of those locations is Jordan Pines Campground up Big Cottonwood Canyon. To reach Big Cottonwood Canyon from Salt Lake City, take I-215 to the 6200 South "Canyons" exit and then continue east following signs to Solitude and Brighton. This 15-mile scenic byway takes about one hour round trip but Jordan Pines is about half way up. From the main road, you will see big parking lot on your right. That's where you'd want to park. There are many trails starting at the campground with Donught Falls being the most popular one. This location
is very popular among hikers and other photographers so if you wanted to find more secluded you'd have to hike out a little bit. I shot a surprise proposal here in a winter which provided a little more privacy and beautiful snowy landscape.
Skiing Proposal in Park City and Salt Lake City
Many people come to Utah for the National Parks but Utah is also know for an incredible skiing and beautiful mountains near Park City up the Canyons. Since most of proposals happen around holidays such as Christmas or New Year's, why not combine the holidays with a romantic proposal and celebrate on two occasions. One of a the most popular resorts and proposal locations in Park City in a winter is Deer Valley Mountain Resort, and Brighton and Solitude up Cottonwood Canyons. If you're coming here on holidays to ski take advantage of the best snow and pop the question in. beautiful setting
How to Make Your Proposal Special
Your photographer should help you plan and execute a true surprise and I'd love to do it but here are a few things you could do on your part to make the day more intentional and special.
- Make a dinner reservation to celebrate after. That is something you can do from out of town without your partner knowing. Salt Lake City has some amazing restaurants to celebrate after your proposal. One of my favorites is the Log Haven up Millcreek Canyon. This cozy, romantic restaurant in a cabin is set in a beautiful wooden setting, perfect if you want something fancier and romantic far away from the city itself.
- Arrange for flower bouquet: you can either contact many florist in town to make you custom arrangement or you can order delivery straight to your hotel. I offer complimentary bouquets for any proposals my clients book me for.
- Make sure your partner is looking good which will allow them to be more comfortable posing for photos if you're hiring a photographer. One clever way of doing this is telling them you're going out for dinner or to a show later.
- Hire a photographer to capture your special day.
