Eloping in Kanab, Utah
Kanab is a great little town located in Southern Utah. It makes for a great hub if you want to explore Southern Utah. It is located roughly one h from Lake Powell, Page Arizona and Northern rim of Grand Canyon. It offers many great restaurants, coffee shops and even trails right outside of town. My clients were based out of Kanab for their two day adventure elopement, before I write about what we did on a 2 day elopement here is useful information about eloping in Kanab.
Permits: As always you might need special use permits to elope anywhere in a Zion National Park near Kanab or check ahead of time or have your photographer check for you.
Activities to Do in Kanab
Kanab is such a great getaway town to explore some of Southern Utah's best, such as Coral Pink Sand Dunes, numerous slot canyons (you can read more about eloping in a slot canyon here), Grand Staircase Escalante, Grand Canyon just 1h away and of course Zion National Park. So if hiking isn't your favorite thing you can visit all these places and just drive through and stop at main lookouts, you can visit Lake Powell for sunrise or sunset and go boating or you can enjoy many easy trails just outside of Kanab. Kanab makes a great elopement destination for so many reason, nature is just at your reach, BLM land allows for intimate ceremonies in so many great spots, you can have diversity of scenery between red rock, Lake Powell and some juniper forest.
Intimate Wedding in Kanab
We started at my Client's Airbnb in Kanab with separate getting ready pictures, The bride was getting ready at her Airbnb and the groom at his so they can see each other at the ceremony site for the first time...
My clients chose to have their ceremony at one of my favorite places- Alstrom Point above Lake Powell. That place is absolutely unreal but there are a few things you need to keep in mind before heading that way. That location requires serious 4x4 Jeep kind of vehicle. they rented sprinter van to transport out guests to their ceremony and then had multiple jeeps carpooling everyone over more rocky terrain. we got to the sunset spot right on time for the ceremony. The bride walked down to the Arch set up my clients friends to be seen for the first time by her to be husband and all the guests. It was a very emotional and beautiful moment with just the perfect golden hour light. Sunset elopements are my favorite...
The next day my clients started with an adventure session to one of the slot canyons near by. Splitting your elopement coverage into two days allows you to change outfits, relax after there ceremony, bring different energy to your elopement day but also allows you to visit more locations.
Adventure elopement sessions are a great add on to your elopement day.
Then we all took a break and met up again in the evening for dinner and small reception at their Airbnb.
